How long does it take for a butterfly to get out of its cocoon?

It's already on its fourth day that my butterfly pop outs its abdomen from its cocoon. I wonder why it taking it a long time to descent and complete its metamorphic cycle? Will it survive? Need an immediate reply to this query and hope some experts could help.|||It should take about a minute. It may have gotten part of its body stuck in the pupal casing and was unable to emerge. Whatever the cause, its wings would have dried in an incorrect position and it would have been unable to fly. It's probably already dead but you should pinch its head off to be sure. Sorry.

PS -- Butterflies emerge from chrysalides. Only moths emerge from cocoons.|||molting is deadly for an insect which is funny cause they need to molt to grow. Your butterfly may have died. it should take an hour at most to get out of the crystalis and have wings fully formed.
